It came out of running into the same wall repeatedly on water and wastewater projects: land is expensive, water loss is expensive, and solar usually gets bolted on afterward as a separate line item instead of being designed into the system from day one. Treating power generation and water management as one integrated system, rather than two competing budgets, is the actual argument I'll be making in Austin.</span><br/></span></span></div></div>

Every acre of land committed to solar-only generation is an acre not doing double duty, and every basin or pond losing water to evaporation is losing a resource that a well-placed floating array could help protect. Floating solar sits at exactly that intersection: it's an energy solution and a water-conservation tool wearing the same hardware.</p><p><br/></p><p>That's the pitch to a room full of people who build, permit, and finance solar and water infrastructure for a living. It's not a hypothetical, it's a design decision available right now to anyone willing to stop treating water infrastructure and power generation as separate disciplines.</p></div><p></p></div>
